Wednesday Website of The Week: WeChooseTheMoon.com

As you may have heard, this week will mark the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing. (Yes, it happened. No. Stop. It Happened.)

AOL and the Kennedy Presidential Library have teamed up to re-create the entire mission online, promising a minute-by-minute recreation using audio and video archives. WeChooseTheMoon.com will bring you all of the minute-by-minute action.

It should prove to be an incredible way to experience the mission, especially for those of us who weren't around the first time it happened.

Enjoy!

Wednesday Website of The Week: RoadsideAmerica.com

Yes it's time once again for us to do the hard job of surfing for you, as we bring you our Wednesday Website of the Week (the WWW: I just can't get over how clever we are!). This week's pick is a site I've been checking out from time to time for years, but I want to thank @beatbyagirl on twitter for suggesting it/reminding me.

RoadsideAmerica.com houses an exhaustive collection of info on quirky roadside attractions from across the U.S. Strange sites big and small are featured, with updates from recent visitors, which can save you heartbreak by letting you know if the attraction still exists. From the International Spy Museum in DC, to Oregon's Prehistoric Garden, and everywhere in between, it's definitely worth checking out, especially if there's a roadtrip in your future.

Wednesday Website of the Week: Cake Wrecks

I tend to stick with the mainstream Digg/NYTimes/CNN each morning for my website rounds. But then I head over to a site that has no bad news, and I enjoy. The website we're featuring this week has classic snark, clever writing, and most importantly- disturbingly weird cakes.

Cake Wrecks is a wonderful blog who's sole purpose is to share images of the ugly, the misspelled, the strange and just plain sad...cakes. I became addicted after following a link to the worst "cake wreck" disaster cakes for brides. At the time I was planning my wedding and couldn't resist a link to see a cake, good bad or otherwise. What I saw was indescribable....a cake so poorly conceived, and poorly executed...that all I could do was laugh. Because, no matter what the occasion, this site keeps it in perspective, these are merely piles of sugar, flour and icing after all. Be sure to dig through the site's archives to see the real gems. Visit cakewrecks.blogspot.com, and enjoy the weirdness that is: a Cake Wreck.

Wednesday Website of the Week: PlaidStallions.com

It's Wednesday, and here at The Digital Lifestyle, that can only mean one thing (well, at least since we started doing this last week.)  It's time for the Wednesday Website of the Week. For the WWW this time around, we're climbing in a time machine. No flux capacitor needed as we're headed straight to the catalog pages of the 70's thanks to PlaidStallions.com

If you were a child of the 70's, this is the site for you. From the 1976 G.I. Joe catalog, to user-submitted photos of awkward superhero mall appearances, all the toy fun of the decade is lovingly captured.

So open a new window, and head to the world that time forgot, but that will live on in wacky action figures for years to come: PlaidStallions.com
