Wednesday Website of the Week: AFAR.com

Sure there are plenty of websites to book travel, learn about tourism destinations, and read travel reviews. AFAR is a different kind of website (and magazine) for travel fans. AFAR focuses on experiential, or immersive travel: rather than hopping out of the tour bus to take a quick picture of the pyramids, this site encourages long stays, allowing you to really experience the people and culture of the land you're visiting. I've never considered such a deep level of immersion on vacation, but this blog and magazine make it seem quite appealing.

Wednesday Website of the Week: Pete's Twilight Zone

This week's WWW, while a nice choice for fans of The Twilight Zone, actually represents a dying breed on the internet. Pete's Twilight Zone site represents one man's cataloging curating of Twilight Zone episode summaries, trivia, and clips. In this age of Wikipedia, it seems like the need for fansites for classic shows is disappearing. So here's to Pete and his site, and all the other fansites like it still out there, cranking away.

Wednesday Website of the Week: Cardonizer.com

The digital world might be making business cards obsolete. All the more reason then to have your card stand out. Cardonizer.com showcases unique, clever, and fun business card design. Granted most of the designs are going to cost more than your standard white glossy card from the local print shop, but can you really put a price on a first impression? It's also a great site to check out if you are, or are planning to have a career in graphic design.

Wednesday Website of the Week: Dogster.com

Most of our WWW picks are intended to be useful or fun. This week's pick may serve as more of a warning that the end of civilization is creeping our way. Dogster.com is a site allowing you to... create an online profile for your dog (No cats allowed!) complete with pictures, name, age, weight, and sex. The dogs can vie for Dog of the day/week awards. In fairness, the site also includes lots of dog care tips, but that's not enough to erase the vision of the family retriever changing his status to "it's complicated."
