Retro Tech Tuesday: Roger Ebert Plays Videogames

Earlier this year, Roger Ebert caused a bit of a stir by stating he didn't think videogames could be considered art. Considering the swift reaction from the internet, I will keep my own thoughts on that matter to myself. However, you may have thought Ebert was speaking without any firsthand knowledge of gaming. You would be mistaken, as the late, great Gene Siskel mentions in this clip, A videogame was always a staple of the year-end episode of "Siskel & Ebert." Here the guys have a boxing duel through the magic of SEGA's activator ring. And here you thought the Kinect controller scheme was a new idea:

Our Trip To The VGExpo 

This weekend the VGExpo (videogame expo) rolled into the Pennsylvania Convention Center here in TDL's native Philadelphia. Last year you might recall, we did three segments of Root Access from the show, and planned to do the same this year to talk about the must-haves in the gaming world for the holiday season.

As you'll see in the video, that didn't quite work out this time.

Our quick impressions though; the show was much smaller than last year.. It's a good thing Nintendo showed up, as they had by far the largest booth. Oh, and of course we saw several Stormtroopers, (and other forces of evil) but felt safe thanks to the presence of the PA Jedis. Oh, and Jamie did pushups. That about wraps it up.
