Some growing pains for Google multiple account login

Recently, Google started allowing some users with multiple accounts to login to gDocs and other Google services. We use gDocs for shared documents, like our show notes for the live show. Unfortunately, as you can see in the screen shot, this week's notes are caught in an odd loop with the same email login that owns the account needing to authorize itself to view the document. Trippy!

Missing From the Super Bowl? Digital Media Ads

There was something missing from this year's Super Bowl. No, it wasn't a Manning; there was one of those. It wasn't played out GoDaddy ads, there were more than enough of those. No, missing this year? Digital Media ads.

In the past we've seen Apple partner with Pepsi for music giveaways, buymusic.com take on Apple, and Microsoft's Zune. It would've been logical to expect Amazon to push the Kindle, or Barnes & Noble to promote the nook. No Droid ad, not even a hulu ad. What does it mean? Has Apple conquered digital media so thoroughly, and has the e-reader industry so frozen in their tracks, that no one bothered to compete?

With the exception of FLO tv which is only a competitor to Apple in a vague sense, and an ad for fifth/sixth place Boost mobile, (and we'll throw in the google search ad) it was the first Super Bowl in maybe ten years to not feature any direct competitor to Apple. Is it the biggest sign of Apple dominance, or merely the calm before the storm?

Google's Nexus One Confirms it: 2010 Will be a Tech Year for the Ages

Photo: Engadget.comGoogle just finished unveiling the Nexus One, created in partnership with htc. The phone in early reviews seems quite capable, and probably comes in above the Droid as the best Android phone. Of most interest though, is the 5MP camera and built-in flash all in a phone thinner than a pencil.

Many of the Android-powered devices seem designed to help their carriers retain customers, by closing the gap with the iPhone enough to make the move to AT&T (in the U.S.) less appealing. When/if Apple gets out of the AT&T exclusivity, it will be quite interesting to see how many Android devices thrive, and where the carriers will put their promotional dollars. If you were Verizon, and you had the iPhone and the Droid, and you knew how much brand/name recognition the iPhone already has, which handset would you want to promote.

The hardware specs, at least of the camera on the Nexus One shows that Apple can, with enough time be beaten. This may very well mean a move to two iPhone upgrades a year to keep pace with emerging camera and battery technology. All of which means better, faster, and hopefully cheaper devices for all of us.

Your move, Apple.

Google Counters Bing Ads on YouTube

Thanksgiving is over, but I'll tell you what I'm thankful for: I'm thankful those Bing ads that seemed to run incessantly over the summer are finally gone, or at least greatly reduced. And it does look like Bing has captured a decent size of the search pie here in the early going.

Google wasn't going to sit idly by and let Bing takeover though. Although you probably won't see a Google ad on tv anytime soon, mainly because that would indicate that they truly are concerned about the prospects of bing. Instead, Google has cleverly started a campaign to remind everyone why search is so wonderful, presumably even more wonderful when you do it with Google.

There's a new ad campaign (I mean, video series) on Google-owned YouTube aimed at keeping you googling for more:

TDL Live This Week: (11/23 - 11/30)

It's a gem of a show this week. Hey, maybe we should always take a week off first. We've got a look at all the Apple news from the app store to hackintosh, a well as a look at all the rest of the week's Apple news. Oh, and we had to get our censors all in a huff, and bleep an itsy bitsy part of the show. It's a slow week at work anyhow right? So why not enjoy TDL Live right now:

Don't forget you can subscribe to TDL Live through iTunes!
