Light Riders for the iPhone and iPod Touch Video Review

Who hasn't wanted to play a game based on the Light Cycle scene from TRON!? And now you can do it on the go with Light Riders for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game looks great, but unfortunately if you're playing alone, it will probably get old pretty fast. You see, the other "bot" riders aren't the brightest in the bunch: I found if I stayed in the corner of the screen by myself making a series of squares, eventually the other three riders would crash all on their own. Some tweaking to AI, perhaps progressively more difficult gameplay would be a great addition. Of course, it might not be a 99-cent app then either.

The real fun of the game is the network play, which unfortunately is currently limited to the local wifi network. This game could be huge with networked play. For now, you can download it, and get your cycle moves on, or play someone else in the house.

It's got great potential, but if it delivers on all the possibilities, don't be surprised if the price inches up as well.

MovieLingo for the iPhone and iPod Touch Video Review

"Hey, you talkin' to me?" You bet I am. Today we're taking a look at MovieLingo a free app that brings 80 years of movie quotes/audio clips to the iPhone and iPod Touch. You either shake to randomly hear a clip from a specific genre and time period, or you can lock in the decade, movie type, or both. While it might not have the largest database of clips (some decade/genre combos return no results) it can make for a quick, on-the-run trivia game among movie buffs.

FLOverload for the iPhone and iPod Touch Video Review

Plumbing isn't always fun. Fortunately it's quite addictive in the straight-forward game FLOverload for the iPhone and iPod Touch. In the game you are racing against the clock to build a pipe from one side of the screen to the other, using as many pieces as you can (for maximum points), or you can be less creative, uncover all the pieces, and still have a challenging time trying to beat the water flow.

There's a long tutorial before you begin the game, but as you'll see in the video below, it's really quite simple, and if you like puzzle games on the iPhone this will probably quickly become a favorite.

Here's a look at FLOverload:

Cops and Robbers for the iPhone Review

If you just go by the iTunes reviews, this is one of those apps you might avoid. But if you try it, and see what its really all about, you might just like it. In Cops and Robbers, you play either a robber (two characters to choose from) or a cop. The main arc of the game though, is as a robber who has to make rent by gathering money, and more importantly jewels scattered around a city, while avoiding the cops. The graphics are quite nice, and give the game a unique feel.

Some reviewers on iTunes have said "all you do is time jumps." That's true to an extent, but the same could be said of Mario Bros. to some degree. The gameplay isn't terribly complex, but again, if you know that going in, you shouldn't be disappointed. There's also a lite version available if you want to try before you buy:

Toki Tori iPhone Review

After a brief break, our iPhone app reviews are back, and we're starting off with Toki Tori. Toki Tori is a puzzle and scroller game in one. In the game, you play the title character, a bird looking to collect eggs from each level. A simple matter of tapping around the screen at first, the game becomes progressively more challenging, as you begin to use items like bridges and teleporting to move around the play field. Toki Tori combines fun graphics, and great sound to create an enjoyable gaming experience. There's a light version if you're still not convinced:
