Aperture 3 Announced. Apple Raises Middle Finger at Macworld

Let's say you're a very popular company with a rabid fanbase. Now let's say each year for the past gazillion (ok not quite that many) years, your biggest fans get together to show their support of your products and re-affirm their choice to stick with you through thick and thin. Would you choose to not only avoid that event entirely, but also not only announce your "magical" new product two weeks beforehand, but also rollout a new version of your flagship pro photo software. Well, no, you probably wouldn't, unless you're Apple.

It's true: Apple doesn't need Macworld. But it does need to see the value of treating its longest, most-loyal customers with some amount of respect. Whatever drama may, or may not have been behind Apple's departure from Macworld, it's disappointing. You're not hurting IDG, but rather showing what might lie underneath the brushed aluminum skin of the company.

There's a difference between cool, and classy.

There is no effing drama behind the MacWorld pullout. The reality is that it is not necessary to physically gather at trade show venues for even the most rabid fans to get all of the information they want about Apple and third-party products. So there is no reason for Apple to waste the money to attend and exhibit at these dinosaur conventions. And there is no reason to hold their product development schedule hostage to arbitrary convention dates when they can assemble the media anytime they want with an e-invitation. The ONLY gathering of this type that has any value for attendees and Apple is the Developer Conference. A lot can still be accomplished between developers, and between developers and Apple, by gathering and meeting in person.

I think that Apple just wants to get rid of the "don't buy until Macworld" mentality. They would benefit from a macworld visit if people were not expecting an iPhone update from it.

MacWorld needs to just died. MacWorld was the place to gather with other Apple fans and a place where Apple could show case it's newest tech. Now Apple has the stores and sites like your that spread, discuss the tech developments new. I give Macworld another 2 maybe 3 years before MacWorld will be a distant memory. Goodbye MacWorld!

Sorry you are wrong, at Macworld the Apple Fans meet once a year at the Apple Stores round the world they can meet everyday.

Respect for Macusers mean they take note of every complain regarding their products which Apple is doing just fine.

I am not surprise they gave the middle finger to most tech bloggers.

Sorry Adam you are wrong. The world, Macusers both has change and Apple is no longer the company that needs MacWorld. No one is showing disrespect the for Macusers. The plain fact is that the Macuser get most if not all there news and discussions through sites like TDL. These numbers can easy be in the millions views which can also include none fans. While MacWorld may if it is luck attract a few thousands. You can argue that it great to sit down with other fans but the chances are a large percentage will never attend MacWorld. Most will enter an Apple Store, reseller or may there purchase on line. Plus Macuser are no longer special; many just have ipods, iPhone, AppleTV and soon iPads. Some of use also run window or own a second system that is windows. Macworld time has pass. It is time for the old guard to move on and time for MacWorld to fade into tech history!
