Here Come The College Apps: Oregon Ducks for the iPhone and iPod Touch

The University of Oregon has debuted their first app with Oregon Ducks. The app acts as a simple, straightforward way to get information on all the different athletic programs at the school. You can get previous scores, along with news separated by sport. What you can't get, at least not yet, is video of sporting events. It will be interesting to see how individual schools and the NCAA handle the video rights to sporting events.

Still, we wanted to give credit where credit is due, as we predict hundreds if not thousands of colleges will have iPhone apps over the next year. The look and "coolness" of a particular college's app could become a crucial recruitment factor in the future.
