Star Trek Saturday, Episode Two - Charlie X

(Each Saturday we bring Star Trek and Apple fans together with Star Trek Saturday. You can watch a full episode of the original Star Trek series (even fullscreen) and interact with new and old fans alike in the comments section. There's still time to start from the beginning with Episode One.)

Captain James T. Kirk and the gang are back for episode two of the original Star Trek series. This episode wastes no time hooking us into the world of a mysterious teenage visitor aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise:

And again, a reminder the ads within the episode allow fancast to stream the episode. To help support our weekly Star Trek feature, please consider using this link to purchase from Amazon, or use this link to buy from iTunes.

Enjoy!

(Oh, and first question for the veteran viewers: The lovely blond Yeoman from episode one is back... Who can shed some light on how long we'l be seeing her?)

Star Trek Saturday, Episode One

We're excited to kick off our first Star Trek Saturday! If you happened to just bump into this blog entry here's what we're doing:
Starting today, each week we will be posting one Star Trek episode in its entirety, and in chronological order. We want lifelong fans and newbies to come together for this community viewing experience. Your comments on each episode are what will really drive the community. Again, if you've never watched a minute of Star Trek before, don't be afraid to join in.

Also, a huge thanks to Fancast and CBS for making these episodes available for posting.

Since this is the first episode, let's get some feedback on how the episodes are presented: Should we include a brief synopsis, or should each episode be a fresh surprise? Let's leave the fun factoids for the comments, but feel free to share them.

Also, please remember the ads during the show support fancast and CBS in making the stream possible. To help us bring this community feature, please consider shopping at Amazon using this link. Heck, maybe, just maybe, some Star Trek items will catch your eye.

Interview with Star Trek Tribute Band Warp 11

We have Star Trek on the brain today, getting ready to kickoff Star Trek Saturday tomorrow. So it was only natural that we talk to two members of Warp11, the country's premier Star Trek tribute band. (Any other bands want to vie for the title? They will clean the floor with you!) Warp 11 mixes clever and uber-geeky references to the show (mostly The Original Series, and Next Generation) along with sex and drugs. Make no mistake, this is a rock band, through and through, that happens to be made up of some of the biggest Star Trek fans.

They also happen to be playing at MacWorld this year, so what a perfect way to show the mindmeld of Apple fans and Star Trek fans. Here's Captain Karl Miller, and Chief Science Officer Kiki Stockhammer, from Warp 11:

Where Pop Culture and Technology Collide: Pop Torrent, Episode 1

You know, sometimes it's fun to look back and say, "Wow, we've come a long way!" Well when it comes to our new show, Pop Torrent, we can't do that quite yet since it just started. But here we humbly present episode one in the hopes that in the future, we'll look back at realize just how much better the show has gotten. Audio? Who needs audio to start a show? Lighting? You want to be able to see the hosts, AND you want funnier jokes? Well, you'll just have to wait until episode two. Or maybe three.

There was debate as to whether to post it, then I reminded everyone that Cat was sporting Vulcan ears, and that pretty much sealed the deal. Also, there's an iPhone case giveaway too, so watch carefully!

So welcome to Pop Torrent: Where Pop Culture and Technology Collide:

New For 2010: Star Trek Saturdays on TDL!

We're excited to announce we're bringing together the fandom worlds of Apple and Star Trek for: Star Trek Saturdays! Many millions of people went to see the most recent Star Trek movie who have never watched, or cared about the original series. Many others have been interested in Star Trek, but just didn't know when/where to start. And, it turns out a lot of Apple fans are also Star Trek fans, so we've decided to put it all together for Star Trek Saturdays.

Each Saturday, beginning Jan. 16th, we will post a one full length episode of Star Trek to the blog, starting from the very beginning. Over the course of the week, we want newbies and Trekk(ies/ers) alike to chime in with trivia, questions, etc in the comments. If it works, this could be a new form of community TV. Each episode can be watched full screen (thanks, Fancast!) and they look really great.

So even if you've never watched an episode before, be sure to check it out, starting on the 16th!
