Retro Tech Tuesday: Sears!

I often wonder whether we'll look back and giggle at how ridiculous we look today with our gadgets. Then I think, nah, we won't even notice. I mean how glaring can a woefully dated piece of electronics be? Well for the answer, we travel to the 1980's. To Sears. Will our iPhones and iPods look like as big of fashion faux pas as the giant (even by Walkman standards) portable cassette player in this ad? Time will tell. There's more for your life at Sears!

Retro Tech Tuesday: Coleco Head To Head Handheld Football

Sure, you may have played some of those LCD/LED football emulators on the iPod Touch or iPhone, but nothing can compare to the thrill of excitement (and the tension of having your heads inches apart) that came with Coleco's Head-To-Head football. I'm not sure why they didn't use the obvious "Two heads are better than one" marketing tagline, but they have a point: "Why settle for less?"

Retro Tech Tuesday: Apple Lisa Ad with Kevin Costner

Before Kevin Costner danced with wolves, he was playing a workaholic, dog-loving, bicycling tech master in this Apple Lisa ad. I've got to wonder if it wasn't just the price of the Lisa, but also this ad's implication that you'd have to work all night if you bought one. Both Costner and Apple went on to do okay:
