StickWars for the iPhone and iPod Touch Video Review

Why are stick people so unlucky? It seems like they're always being attacked by a much bigger, sophisticated enemy, or they're relentlessly attacking others, as is the case in StickWars.

You are responsible for keeping oncoming waves of stick people from getting through a wall. The most effective means of defense is to pick them up by touching the screen, then swipe to slam them to the ground. While the early rounds are dominated by this simple method, as you progress, your options become more complicated, although it seems like the old-fashioned grab-and-smash will take you far in the game.

TreeConnect proves keeping it simple can create an addictive game

Budding iPhone app developers take note: TreeConnect is a master class in how a simple concept well executed can lead to a successful (and addictive) app. It's simple really: a series of colors appear in a line and you must press the corresponding color at the bottom of the screen, trying to get through all of the colors in a particular line as fast as possible. Words don't really do it justice, and I don't know that video does either. You may need to simply download it and see for yourself.

Revolt for the iPhone Video Review

Good news: It turns out the world won't (quite) come to an end in 2012. Instead there will be a robot revolt against the humans! At least that's the premise behind the game Revolt

Putting aside the tremendous increase in robotic intelligence that must be just around the corner, Revolt is a fun, fast-paced shooter with lots of weapon choices, and tons of action from the start. Unfortunately all the action can leave you a little disoriented with where to end next. It would be great if a level map was included as the directional arrow is only marginally helpful in guiding you. If you don't mind a little bit of stuttering (at least on the 3GS) when there are big explosions, the rest of Revolt makes for fun, fast gameplay.

No need for math flashcards, download Anzan instead

Anzan is based on an ancient far east tradition. From what I can tell, we know this tradition better as buying flashcards to learn math. Anzan starts out with simple addition and subtraction that anyone at any math level can try. Choose a higher level, and soon triple digit numbers are flashing by in what seems like a split second, and you need to add them up in your head.

While most of us would either grow bored, or get frustrated by our own lack of math genius, for the number-lovers of the world, this could be a must-have app.

ZombieBooth turns you into a zombie, and does it well

Granted it's not prime zombie season, but it's never too early/late to turn your very likeness into a zombie contained (we hope) inside the iPhone/iPod. ZombieBooth: 3d Zombifier is quite simply a photobooth to turn the photo of your choosing into an animated, biting, groaning zombie. After a short render, the end result is chilling and accurate, making great use of the original photo to create the zombie you. No word on what happens if an actual zombie tries using ZombieBooth.
